Everything you need to work with video and audio, in your browser

NextConvert is a full toolkit for editing, converting, and optimising media files. No installations, no learning curve, and no monthly subscription required to start.

Why a browser-based video toolkit

Desktop video editors like Premiere, Final Cut, and DaVinci Resolve are powerful but slow to install, expensive to license, and overkill for the tasks most people actually need: compressing a phone clip to send over email, converting a screen recording into MP4, trimming a few minutes off a meeting, or adding a music track to a vlog. Every one of those jobs takes longer to set up in a full editor than it takes to do.

NextConvert runs entirely on our cloud-based FFmpeg infrastructure. You upload a file, choose what you want done to it, and download the result. No timeline, no project file, no learning curve. The interface stays out of your way so you can finish in seconds what an editor would take a couple of minutes to even open up.

Because the heavy lifting happens on our servers, the experience is the same on a Chromebook, a five-year-old laptop, or a top-end MacBook. Your device only needs to upload the file and download the result. Everything else runs on hardware-accelerated machines purpose-built for this work.

What you can do

Convert between formats

Move between MP4, MOV, WebM, AVI, MKV and more, with the right codec for the destination (iOS, Android, web, or legacy devices).

Compress for sharing

Shrink large recordings to fit Gmail’s 25 MB attachment cap, Discord’s upload limit, or your own bandwidth budget, without visible quality loss.

Trim, split, and merge

Cut the boring parts, separate one file into many, or stitch many clips together. Lossless where possible, so quality is identical to the source.

Reframe and resize

Crop landscape clips into vertical Reels / Shorts / TikTok formats. Resize to platform-specific resolutions. Rotate to fix sideways recordings.

Work with audio

Extract audio for podcasts and transcription, add a soundtrack or voiceover, remove background noise, or convert between MP3, WAV, FLAC, AAC, and OGG.

Brand and protect

Watermark your videos with logo or text. Speed footage up for review or slow it down for analysis. Generate optimised GIFs for chat and docs.

How it works under the hood

Every tool on NextConvert is powered by FFmpeg, the same open-source media engine that runs inside Netflix, YouTube, VLC, and most professional video pipelines. We provide a curated layer on top of FFmpeg’s thousands of options: each tool exposes only the parameters that matter for that specific job, with sane defaults tuned by real engineers rather than copy-pasted from a Stack Overflow answer.

Files upload in chunks over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, get queued onto a worker, processed by FFmpeg with hardware acceleration where it helps (NVENC for H.264 / H.265, libvpx-vp9 for WebM), and the result streams back to your browser. The original file is deleted from our servers within hours of completion, or earlier if you delete the job manually.

We don’t train models on your media, sell metadata, or scan content for any purpose beyond running the job you asked for. Read our privacy policy for retention timelines and our list of subprocessors.

Who NextConvert is for

Creators and social-media managers use it to repurpose one master recording into every platform’s native format and aspect ratio (16:9 for YouTube, 9:16 for Shorts and Reels, 1:1 for an Instagram grid post) without re-rendering from scratch every time.

Marketers, founders, and indie developers use it to drop demo video sizes for embedding on landing pages, into Stripe-rich-results, and into newsletter attachments. A small site running on Cloudflare or Vercel can serve dozens of compressed videos for the storage cost of one raw clip.

Students, lecturers, and trainers use it to chunk long lectures into chapters, speed up recordings for review, extract audio for transcription, and tighten material before publishing.

Everyday people use it to fix a sideways phone video, send a clip too big for Gmail, mute a recording before forwarding it, or turn a short video into a meme-ready GIF. The free tier covers most casual jobs comfortably.

Format support, in detail

NextConvert understands every common consumer format and most professional ones. Inputs are auto-detected, so you don’t need to know what codec is hiding inside the container.
